This has been a dream of ours for over 10 years. Since 2012 we’ve repeatedly looked for options to get our catalog into audio, and repeatedly the logistics have defeated us.
How did the barriers come down?
Apple is pioneering the use of AI narration for all its ebooks, and in 2023 they opened up the program to small indie publishers.
We were skeptical at first. It seemed too good to be true. But when we looked into the program, it was legit. And we really liked the voice sample for the female narrator. She sounded human, and she sounded good. We entered The Tally Master as a candidate for audio, and a month later it went live!
When we listened to the first few pages, they sounded even better than we’d dreamed possible. We’re eager to make more of J.M. Ney-Grimm’s work available through this channel.
